Yeah, I feel this. I also came to New Athiesm at the tail end of it -- 2014/15 ish (I had a lot of existential angst for a 12 year old). I'm pretty firm in my athiesm, yet my favorite artist by far is Matt Maeson, someone who often sings about Christianity, and I also frequently employ religious imagery in my poetry. Why? Because the iconography of Christianity is effective, it's been around for thousands of years for a reason. It's resonant, which doesn't necessarily make it true.
